About my lessons:

I have been teaching guitar for twelve years and absolutely love my "job". Throughout these years I have worked with children, adults, beginners, intermediate and advanced players. I specialize in classical guitar, but teach acoustic guitar and electric guitar as well. However, if you are interested in learning jazz guitar or want to know how to "shred" I am not the right teacher for you. I believe that an appropriate matching between a teacher and student is of the utmost importance! Therefore, if you are interested in lessons please contact me and provide me with some information about yourself, such as: Are you a complete beginner? If not, then how long have you studied the guitar? Do you own a guitar? If so, is it classical (nylon-string), acoustic (steel-string) or electric? What are your goals, or what do you hope to gain through lessons. Please feel free to include any other information you would like to share with me!

Now let me tell you a little bit about myself. I began my studies of the guitar with a common motivation - to become a rock star! And so, I set forth on my quest strapped with my shiny red electric guitar. A couple of years later I was introduced to the beauty of the classical guitar and it was love at first listen. Having been sporadic with my formal lessons in the early days I consider myself to be partially self-taught, so I will credit myself with any and all of the bad habits that I picked up along the way. Thankfully I have been lucky enough to cross paths with some wonderful teachers that assisted me in making the necessary corrections. And so, knowing first hand the hardships of overcoming poorly cultivated technique, as a teacher I am very careful to emphasize proper technique. I also feel that reading music is a necessity, guitar being just as respectable an instrument to study as the violin, piano or other (serious) instruments, which do not rely on systems of tablature. However, tablature is not completely useless and therefore all students of the guitar should also at least be familiar with this brand of notation. Additionally, being the unfortunate possessor of two left feet (figuratively speaking) I can assure you that rhythm can be learned and will be learned, fear not if you are not naturally blessed with this gift, in fact most are not. It is also important to understand the basic theory behind music, as this will enhance your ability to build on musical knowledge and afford you a greater understanding and appreciation of the true natural science and art behind it. Additionally, I would like to mention that I will do my best to tailor the lessons to your specific needs and interests, while attempting also to broaden your horizons when appropriate. Please keep in mind that although you will learn all of the above-mentioned skills, I hope to also assist you in balancing them with the all important enjoyment factor. I assure you that the guitar is FUN to play, as long as you do not allow your mind to convince you otherwise! So, if you have hit a wall with your progress and experience frustration rather than pleasure when you pick up your instrument, you are way off course. We will examine all the possible factors and I will do my best to assist you in reaching your short-term and long-term goals. I am also more than happy to take on beginning students of all ages. Typically children can begin guitar lessons between the ages of 5 and 8; the variance is due to the rate by which each child experiences developmental progress, (i.e. ability to concentrate and physical dexterity). If it seems like I might be a good teacher for you, then please download the PDF file to review lesson policies and fees. If you have any other questions whatsoever please contact me, I am more than happy to answer them for you. Thanks for your interest!

With music and love,
